Art of the Street

Don't be afraid of what you don't know. Get to know street art, the people behind it, and the inspiration of it. The public art gallery is a social forum where dialogue, debate, confrontation, innovation and experimentation can occur. Visual art and visual culture, with its capacity to reflect the multifaceted makeup of our society, is a powerful and vital medium that creates opportunities for creative exchange and discourse.

Working with local youth and the community, Taboo will explore aspects of visual culture that society as a whole has proscribed to be improper...or at least annoying. Since the urban American Revolution on the East Coast, Hip Hop has played a big role in pop culture, influencing today's youth all across the world. This ever-changing culture is reflected in its music, art, clothing, dance styles, and its way of life. The urban art of stenciling, graffiti, skateboarding and hip hop will find a voice at Gallery Lambton on June 7 & 8^th during artwalk ‘08. Meet the artists and hear their voice.
