Once each year, Artwalk takes over Sarnia’s core with a weekend long festival to celebrate the tangible development of our art and culture.
The event, currently being organized for the 15th year, has become a major attraction with over 25,000 visitors last year. The streets of downtown will line with hundreds of artists, crafts people, food vendors, live performances, and children’s activities. The weekend events add to the growing success of Sarnia’s Downtown, with merchants reporting new customers and record sales.
Artwalk encourages artists to tidy vacant downtown properties in exchange for use as temporary galleries and installation spaces. The result is a full and active downtown. Thus artists display their work in venues transcending traditional gallery settings and interact more directly with the public.
Environmental groups work with artists to strengthen our community through the promotion of healthy living and environmental stewardship as part of our everyday lives. Together, artists and environmentalists develop working partnerships to encourage creativity and ecological awareness in seeking sustainable solutions.
To celebrate the talents of performing artists, Artwalk brings two stages to Downtown Sarnia to host live shows all weekend. Music talents include DJ’s, bands and solo performers from a wide variety of genres. Performers include: My Son The Hurricane, Birds of Bellwoods and Pat Robitaille Band. For more information on performers be sure to check our Entertainment Page.
With the help of dedicated volunteers and cooperation from the community, we are encouraging and inspiring the development of Sarnia’s Downtown, fulfilling our promise to enrich our community.
